语言是人与人之间沟通的工具作，但对于自我评价为“不善言辞”的艺术家Esther Sarto而言，有时候作品反而是一件更好的表达工具。
Language is the most important tool for people to communicate. But to people who describe them as “ineloquent”, such as artist Esther Sarto, they’d need to find a better way to express themselves.

她的作品风趣委婉又略带神秘感，围绕着人类、动物或植物这些生命体展开，向观者呈现出她的思想果实。
Her work, often featuring life entities like human figures, animals and plants, gives out a euphemistic sense of humor and mystery, offering viewers an insight into her inner world.
▲SLEEPLESS 《无眠》
寂静的夜里，鲜红的被褥上，两只黑色的豹，一个赤裸的女人，配以“无眠”这样的命名，不禁使人浮想联翩，欣赏着这幅优雅水彩作品的同时又会产生些许不安……
In a tranquil evening, two black leopards and one naked woman are lying on the red quilts. The title “Sleepless” leaves viewers with plenty room of imagination and imbues the elegant watercolor piece with the subtle power to disturb people’s mind.
▲CONSUMED 《满》
纵然画面中充满着人，色调这般温和，也会无处不透露着匪夷所思的氛围。
Consumed with human figures and gentle colors, this work is overwhelmed with a queer atmosphere.
丹麦艺术家Esther Sarto于2018年3月至5月在上海斯沃琪和平饭店艺术中心进行驻留。
Danish artist Esther Sarto stayed at the Swatch Art Peace Hotel in Shanghai as a resident artist from March to May, 2018.
凭借几只毛笔、几管水彩，她能够让一张白纸大放异彩。
With the use of only a few brush pens and several tubes of watercolor paints, she manages to enliven the blank papers.

笔尖与纸间的触碰频率就如同她的心电图一般，起起伏伏生机绵延，直至渗透到每一寸画像里、直到深入到每一位观者的内心。
When the tip of her painting brush touches upon paper, it seems what it draws is imbued with her exuberant vitality, which then makes its way to penetrate into the hearts of the viewers.
驻留结束之际，Esther Sarto在上海斯沃琪和平饭店艺术中心留下了一件Trace。
During the end of her residency, Esther Sarto left a piece of her work as her “trace” at the Shanghai Swatch Art Peace Hotel.
